Morocco Consular Sticker Visa

For travellers the eVisa cannot cover: non-eligible nationalities, long stays, work and study, and special passports. What the embassy asks for and how filing works.

When does the eVisa rule you out?

When your trip does not fit the eVisa box. The Accès Maroc eVisa is narrow by design: ordinary passports only, eligible nationalities, single entry, stay up to 30 days, tourism or short unpaid business. Anything outside that goes to a Moroccan embassy or consulate.

Embassy visas are physical sticker foils placed in the passport. They run 90+ days of validity, are frequently multiple-entry, and cover the full range of purposes including work, study, residence, and family reunion.

eVisa Stay Cap Up to 30 Days
eVisa Validity 180 Days Single-Entry
Sticker Validity 90+ Days, Often Multi-Entry
Daily Funds Proof ~€70 / Day + Insurance

Do not force an eVisa onto an embassy case

Work contracts, university seats, stays past 30 days, and diplomatic or refugee documents are refused or cancelled on the eVisa route. File at the consulate from the start.

Who must apply at a Moroccan embassy

If any row below describes you, skip Accès Maroc and book a consular appointment:

Your Situation Correct Route Why
Nationality not eligible on Accès Maroc Embassy Only The eVisa portal blocks ineligible passports at the eligibility check. Only a consulate can issue.
Stay longer than 30 days Embassy Only eVisa stays cap at 30 days with no extension path. Long tourist, family, and medical stays need a sticker visa.
Work, paid activity, or residence Embassy Only Employment and residence permits require prior consular clearance plus a Moroccan employer or sponsor file. eVisa holders cannot convert status inside Morocco.
Study, research, or volunteering over 30 days Embassy Only Universities and institutes issue enrolment certificates the consulate endorses. Short eVisa entry does not cover matriculation.
Diplomatic, service, or refugee travel documents Embassy Only Accès Maroc accepts ordinary passports only. Official and non-standard documents are processed mission-to-mission.
Short tourist or business trip, eligible passport eVisa Permitted Single entry up to 30 days within 180 days. Ordinary passport valid 90+ days, with 180+ days residence if applying from a third country.

Residence boundary: the eVisa never authorises work, study enrolment, or residence. Travellers planning to live, work, or study in Morocco should read the no-residence and work boundary guide → before booking flights.

What to bring to the consulate or visa centre

Exact checklists vary by post, but every Moroccan mission asks for the same core file. Prepare originals plus one photocopy set:

  • Passport: ordinary passport valid 90+ days beyond planned entry, with blank pages. Non-citizens applying abroad generally need 180+ days of host-country residence.
  • Form and photos: signed visa form, recent passport photos to consulate specification, and appointment confirmation for BLS / VFS where outsourced.
  • Travel proof: flight reservations, hotel bookings or a legalised invitation (attestation d'hébergement), and a day-by-day plan for longer stays.
  • Funds and insurance: three months of bank statements showing roughly €70 per day of stay, plus travel medical insurance covering Morocco.
  • Purpose evidence: employer letter and Moroccan work authorisation for jobs; enrolment certificate and fee receipts for students; marriage or birth certificates for family reunion; note verbale for diplomatic and service passports.
  • Fees and biometrics: consular fee in local currency plus centre service fee. Most centres photograph and fingerprint applicants at submission.

1

Confirm jurisdiction and book intake

Find the Moroccan mission or BLS / VFS centre covering your address. Create an account, select the right visa category, and book the earliest workable slot — waits run 2 to 6 weeks in peak season.

2

Attend with the full file

Bring the documents above, pay the consular and service fees, and complete biometrics. Keep the tracking receipt; centres forward the file to the consulate for decision.

3

Collect and verify the sticker

Check name spelling, passport number, validity dates, entries, and duration on the spot. Errors are far easier to fix at the counter than at Casablanca immigration.

Common questions about consular visas

01 Who must apply at a Moroccan embassy instead of using the eVisa?

Travellers whose nationality is not eligible on Accès Maroc, anyone staying beyond 30 days, and all work, study, residence, and family-reunion cases must use the consular route. Diplomatic, service, and refugee travel documents are also embassy-only.

02 What documents does the consulate usually ask for?

Ordinary passport valid 90+ days beyond entry, photos, completed form, flights, hotel or invitation, bank statements showing roughly €70 per day, travel insurance, plus employment or enrolment letters for work and study cases. Non-residents applying abroad generally need 180+ days of local residence.

03 How is a sticker visa different from the eVisa?

The eVisa is a single-entry electronic authorization for up to 30 days. A consular sticker is a physical visa foil in the passport, valid 90+ days and often issued as multiple-entry, covering longer and more complex trip purposes.

04 Where do I file the application — BLS, VFS, or the embassy?

Morocco outsources intake in many countries to BLS or VFS centres, which check documents and take biometrics. The embassy or consulate still decides. Always book through the official centre for your jurisdiction and keep the submission receipt.

05 Can I work or study on an eVisa and fix it later in Morocco?

No. Employment, paid activity, university enrolment, and residence permits cannot be done on an eVisa. Arriving on the wrong authorization can lead to refusal, fines, or removal. Get the correct sticker visa before you travel.

Not sure which route fits your trip?

Short eligible visits go online. Everything longer or work-linked goes through the embassy. Confirm your category before you apply.
