Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about applying, paying, and tracking your visa with VistoRoute.

General & eVisa Basics

What is an eVisa and how does it work?

An eVisa (Electronic Visa) is an official entry document issued electronically by a country's government. Instead of submitting your physical passport to an embassy, you complete the application online, upload digital document scans, pay processing fees, and receive an approved PDF visa via email.

Why should I apply through VistoRoute instead of government portals?

Official government portals frequently experience server timeouts, confusing layouts, and offer zero human support or application pre-checks. At VistoRoute, our visa specialists manually review your photos, passport scans, and travel itinerary prior to government submission to prevent costly rejections and delay risks.

Do I need to physically visit an embassy or send my original passport?

No. The entire eVisa procedure is 100% digital. You never need to courier your passport, attend in-person interviews, or visit an embassy. You simply upload digital copies online.

Can I apply for an eVisa if I am currently outside my home country?

Yes, as long as you hold a valid eligible passport and can provide required proof of residency or status (if requested by destination regulations), you can complete your online application from anywhere in the world.

What is the difference between a Tourist eVisa and a Business eVisa?

A Tourist eVisa is strictly for sightseeing, family visits, holidays, and non-paid recreational travel. A Business eVisa permits attending trade fairs, corporate meetings, signing contracts, or exploring investments (strictly excluding paid employment).

Documents & Specifications

How long must my passport be valid to apply for an eVisa?

For almost all international destinations (such as Japan, Brazil, Turkey, and South Africa), your passport must have a minimum validity of at least 6 months beyond your scheduled arrival date, with at least 2 blank pages.

What are the passport photograph specifications for an eVisa?

Your photo must be taken within the last 6 months against an absolute plain white background, with a neutral facial expression (no smiling, glasses, or headwear unless religious). Our team auto-resizes and formats your photo to official specs during verification.

What format and file size should my document uploads be?

We accept standard image and document formats including PDF, JPG, JPEG, and PNG. Individual file sizes should ideally be under 5MB. If your scans are slightly blurred or oversized, our system automatically optimizes them prior to government submission.

Do minor children (under 18) require a separate eVisa application?

Yes, every individual traveler—regardless of age or infant status—must hold an individual approved eVisa. Minor applications generally require additional documents such as a Birth Certificate and Parent Authorization consent forms.

Do I need confirmed hotel and flight bookings before applying?

Most immigration departments require round-trip travel itineraries or flight reservations alongside hotel accommodations or stay schedules. You can submit tentative travel arrangements; however, passenger names on tickets must strictly match your passport.

Payments & Pricing

How much does an eVisa cost?

The total fee consists of the official Government Visa Fee and VistoRoute's Professional Document Review & Handling Fee. Costs vary depending on your destination country, nationality, and chosen processing speed (Standard, Rush, or Super Rush).

Which currencies can I pay in?

You can view and pay in USD, GBP, EUR, AED, INR, or AUD using the currency selector in the site header.

Is my credit card and personal information secure with VistoRoute?

Yes, 100%. VistoRoute enforces strict PCI-DSS data security standards and 256-bit SSL encryption. Your financial details are handled directly by certified merchant processors, and we never store credit card numbers.

Are visa fees refundable if my application is rejected?

Official government fees are non-refundable once submitted to immigration authorities. However, if an application fails due to an administrative error on our part, our processing service fees are fully covered by our Service Guarantee Policy.

Processing, Approval & Rejections

How long does standard eVisa processing take?

Processing time varies by destination—anywhere from 24 hours for some eVisas to several days for standard reviews (e.g., Japan takes ~5-7 working days). Express Rush options are available on each destination page for urgent travel needs.

How will I receive my approved eVisa?

Once approved by immigration authorities, your official eVisa will be sent as a high-resolution PDF document directly to your registered email address and updated in your account dashboard.

Do I need to print my approved eVisa or can I keep it on my phone?

We strongly recommend printing at least 2 physical copies of your approved eVisa PDF to present to airline check-in staff and border officers. Some immigration checkpoints also require mobile QR verification.

What if there is a spelling mistake on my approved eVisa?

An eVisa with details mismatching your physical passport (such as misspelled names or passport number typos) is invalid for entry. Contact our 24/7 support team immediately so we can request an urgent amendment or re-file.

What are the common reasons for visa rejection?

Top rejection reasons include non-compliant photos (shadows or non-white background), passport scan MRZ lines cut off, insufficient financial proof, or unconfirmed flight itineraries. Our pre-check system filters these errors out before final processing.

How early before my travel date should I apply?

We advise applying 2 to 4 weeks prior to your planned departure date. This guarantees adequate time for pre-check verification, processing, and a safety buffer against government holiday backlogs.
