Refused online vs. turned away at the border
A refusal and denied boarding are two different problems. A refusal happens on the Accès Maroc portal before you fly — the system or an officer rejects the application, and you get no eVisa. Denied boarding happens at the airport or at Moroccan control — you have a document, but the airline or border police will not accept it. That second case often involves travelling on the wrong passport, an expired approval, or trying to re-enter on a used single-entry eVisa.
The good news: an online refusal is not a travel ban. The Morocco eVisa is single-entry for up to 30 days inside a 180-day window. If your file is refused, you can correct it and file again. You just need to find the real cause. In most cases it is one of three things — details that do not match the passport MRZ, scans too blurry to read, or a residence permit that no longer meets the rules.
Small errors cause most refusals
One wrong digit in the passport number, a cropped MRZ line, a shadow across the face — the system flags it. For minors, a missing parent document can do the same. Check scans at full zoom before paying.
Why Morocco eVisa applications get refused
Match your refusal to the rows below, then fix that exact point before reapplying:
| Refusal Reason | What Went Wrong | How to Fix It |
|---|---|---|
| Name / Number Typo | MRZ Mismatch | Retype full name, passport number, and dates exactly as printed on the MRZ lines. Use an ordinary passport valid 90+ days past arrival. Never guess a character. |
| Blurry Passport Scan | Unreadable Upload | Rescan both photo and MRZ pages at high resolution, flat on the glass, no fingers or glare. Check at 200% zoom before upload. |
| Photo Failure | Does Not Meet Standard | Upload a fresh plain-background photo — face forward, no glasses or shadows, correct size. See our photo guide and retake it if in doubt. |
| Residence Under 180 Days | Invalid Supporting Stay | Your residence permit or sticker visa must be valid 180 days or more when you apply. Renew it first, or apply through a Moroccan consulate instead. |
| Wrong Visa Used as Support | e-Visa / ESTA Not Accepted | US ESTAs, eVisas, and transit stickers do not count as support. You need a physical residence card or a sticker visa from a listed country. |
| Wrong Route Selected | Ineligible Basis | Pick the route that fits your case — listed nationality, or valid residence/sticker. If neither fits, stop and use the consulate path rather than forcing the form. |
| Late or Weak Application | Timing / Funds Gap | Apply 2–3 weeks before travel. Show roughly €70 per day, return flights, hotel bookings, and travel insurance. Last-minute files with thin proof get refused. |
Payment warning: There is no refund after payment, even for a refusal. A failed card charge can also leave the file unpaid and unprocessed — confirm the debit went through, then track status on Accès Maroc. For minors, attach the parent passport copy and consent letter or the file may be refused as incomplete.
Points to check before you pay again
Run through this short list. It catches most repeat refusals:
- MRZ first: Compare every typed field against the two machine-readable lines, not just the photo page. One swapped digit is enough for refusal.
- Scans second: Passport, residence card, and photo must be sharp, uncropped, and glare-free. Phone photos of screens almost always fail.
- Support validity: Residence or sticker must run 180 days or more. Short-validity cards, ESTAs, and eVisas do not qualify.
- No reused payment assumption: Each new application needs a new payment. A refused file cannot be reopened or transferred.
How to reapply in 3 steps
Find the fault and gather fresh proof
Read the refusal against the table above. Rescan the passport, retake the photo, renew short residence, or switch to the consulate route if you are not eligible online.
File a clean new application
Start a new form on Accès Maroc. Retype all details from the MRZ, re-upload every document, and attach hotel, return flight, insurance, and — for minors — parent documents.
Pay, track, and wait before travelling
Pay the fee again, confirm the charge, and track status online. Do not book non-refundable travel until the new approval arrives.
Common questions about Morocco refusals
01 My Morocco eVisa was refused. Can I apply again?
Yes. A refusal on Accès Maroc does not block you from filing a new application. Fix the error that caused the refusal first — new scans, correct details, valid residence proof — then submit again and pay the fee again.
02 Do I get a refund if my eVisa is refused?
No. Once payment is taken, the fee is not refunded, even if the application is refused or rejected. That is why it pays to check every scan and entry before you pay.
03 How long should I wait before reapplying after a refusal?
You can reapply right away once you have corrected documents. Still, leave enough time — apply at least 2–3 weeks before travel so a second review does not push you past your flight date.
04 Was I refused because my residence permit expires soon?
Often, yes. Your residence permit or sticker visa for a listed country must usually be valid for 180 days or more at the time you apply. If it expires sooner, renew it first or use the consulate route.
05 Does a refusal mean I am banned from Morocco?
No. An eVisa refusal is not a ban. It only means that one online application failed its checks. You can reapply online with fixed documents or seek a sticker visa at a Moroccan consulate.
Fix the error, then reapply with confidence
Correct your scans and details first — then file a clean new application before your travel date.
