Morocco Visa-Exempt Countries

Over 65 nationalities can visit Morocco without a visa for up to 90 days. See if your passport qualifies, and what to do if it does not.

Who can enter Morocco without a visa?

More than 65 countries are visa-free for Morocco. This covers the USA, UK, all EU states, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, Brazil, Mexico, Turkey, Gulf states, and many others.

The stay is short and simple. Up to 90 days for tourism or family visits. No eVisa. No embassy visit. Border officers stamp you in on arrival.

Your passport should be valid for your full stay. Some airlines want 90+ days left. Carry a return ticket, a hotel address, and proof of funds — about €70 per day — plus travel insurance. Checks are quick, but they happen.

Exempt, eVisa, AEVM, or consulate?

Match your passport to the right lane:

Passport Group Entry Route What It Means
USA, UK, EU, Canada, Australia, Japan + 60 others Visa-Free 90 Days No application. Stamp on arrival for tourism up to 90 days. Ordinary passport holders only.
Hong Kong SAR Visa-Free 30 Days Shorter stay. 30 days maximum per entry.
Dominican Republic Visa-Free 60 Days 60 days maximum per entry.
Congo, Ecuador, Ghana, Guinea AEVM Required Not fully exempt. Get the Electronic Travel Authorization (AEVM) online before departure.
India, China, Egypt, Pakistan + others eVisa Route Apply on acces-maroc.ma. Single entry, 180-day validity, up to 30-day stay.
Countries with no eVisa access Embassy Sticker Visa Apply at a Moroccan consulate. Needs 90+ days passport validity, 180+ days residence proof, and full documents.

Dual nationals, take note: the passport you show decides the rule. A visa-free passport gets 90 days. A non-exempt passport on the same trip needs an eVisa or sticker visa, even if you hold both.

Need more than 90 days?

Visa-free entry cannot be renewed online. To ask for more time:

  • Go to the local police station early: visit the Bureau des Étrangers in the city where you stay, well before day 90.
  • Bring proof: passport, entry stamp, address, funds of about €70 per day, insurance, and a reason such as family or medical care.
  • One extension is typical: officers may grant up to 90 extra days. Approval is not certain.
  • Do not just overstay: fines, exit delays, and future entry trouble are common. A sticker visa holder faces the same 90-day cap per visit.

Common questions on visa-free entry

01 Do Americans need a visa for Morocco?

No. US ordinary passport holders can enter Morocco without a visa for up to 90 days. No eVisa is needed. You only need a passport valid for the stay, and border officers may ask for a hotel booking or return ticket.

02 How long can visa-free visitors stay in Morocco?

Most visa-exempt visitors get up to 90 days per entry. The count starts on arrival day. If you want to stay longer, you must ask at a local police station before the 90 days end. Overstay can bring fines or problems on exit.

03 Are there exceptions like Hong Kong or the Dominican Republic?

Yes. Hong Kong SAR passport holders get 30 days visa-free, not 90. Dominican Republic passport holders get 60 days. These are shorter than the standard 90-day allowance.

04 Do Congo, Ecuador, Ghana, or Guinea need a visa?

They are not fully visa-free. Travellers from Congo, Ecuador, Ghana, and Guinea need an Electronic Travel Authorization for Morocco (AEVM) before departure. It is applied for online, not at the border. Without it, airlines can deny boarding.

05 What should I do if my country is not visa-exempt?

Apply before you fly. Many nationalities can use the Morocco eVisa launched in July 2022 through acces-maroc.ma. Others must apply at a Moroccan embassy. Check your passport against the exempt list first, then pick eVisa, AEVM, or consulate route.

Know your entry lane before you book?

Visa-free for 90 days, or eVisa and AEVM for the rest. Confirm your documents early and travel without stress.
