Passport Standards & Border Preparation
Even under visa-exempt status, border authorities enforce strict passport and documentation checks upon landing in Türkiye. Travelers must ensure their documents meet the following criteria:

Passport Validity Window Your passport must remain valid for at least 6 months from your planned date of entry into Türkiye.

Document Physical Condition Passports must be in pristine condition—free of damage, water stains, torn pages, or missing binding.

Biometric & MRZ Compliance Must feature an operational Machine-Readable Zone (MRZ) line to enable automated scanning at e-Gates and border control desks.
Permitted Stay Duration by Passport Type
The length of time you can stay in Türkiye depends directly on the passport classification you carry:
90 Days Allowance
Holders of standard Chinese ordinary passports can stay visa-free for up to 90 days within any 180-day rolling timeframe.
30 Days Allowance
Holders of Chinese official passports (including service, special, and official travel documents) can stay visa-free for up to 30 days per 180-day period.
90 Days Allowance
Both ordinary and official Hong Kong Special Administrative Region passport holders are granted up to 90 days of visa-free stay within 180 days.
30 Days Allowance
Ordinary and official passport holders from the Macao Special Administrative Region can remain visa-free for up to 30 days per 180-day window.
Immigration Border Inspection Checklist
Upon arriving at Istanbul (IST), Sabiha Gökçen (SAW), or other international ports, immigration agents may evaluate the following travel credentials:
Confirmed Return Ticket
Valid round-trip flight booking confirming scheduled departure within your permitted stay window.
Hotel & Stay Proof
Confirmed hotel reservations, tour itinerary, or invitation letters from local hosts in Türkiye.
Financial Capacity
Evidence of adequate travel funds (cash in USD/EUR/TRY or active credit/debit cards).
