How the Oman visa-free list works
In 2026 Oman published an official list of countries with visa-free entry, covering more than a hundred nationalities for short stays of up to 14 days. The mechanism is deliberately plain: if your nationality is on the list, you arrive with your passport and evidence, and the entry decision happens at the border. There is no form to file first and no fee for the window itself.
The list is maintained by the Foreign Ministry and reflected in the Royal Oman Police eligibility tools, so the two official sources together are the authority. Aggregators, forums and copied articles routinely lag behind list changes, which are exactly what the 2026 update proved: old assumptions flipped for countries in both directions.

Who is on the list
The nationality tables below are the ones our eligibility guide carries from official partner guidance, shown here in full with flags and a search, because the online nationality tables and the 2026 free short-stay policy family read from the same official source. Countries with their own VistoRoute guide link straight from the row. Search, expand with See more, and confirm your own passport through the live check.
Standard online eVisa nationalities
These passports sit in the strongest position across the system: they answer the online eligibility questions directly, and under the short-stay policy family they commonly hold the free entry lane, up to 14 days, at any legal border.
No country matches your search.
Conditional online eVisa nationalities
Nationals of these countries can be asked for extra evidence before their online application clears, and several of them, India among them, also appear in the official short-stay publication. The Indian citizens page details that combination.

*Morocco: if Moroccan nationals apply with a Schengen visa, only a valid Schengen visa issued in Morocco is accepted.
Not seeing your country? Nationalities absent from the tables, Pakistan among them, plus Gulf citizens who stand outside this list entirely with their own 90-day visa-free arrangement, follow other lanes: the Pakistani citizens guide and UAE residents guide map those cases, and Gulf residence has its own route on the GCC resident visa page.
The 14-day rules
- Counted from arrival: the window runs up to 14 days from the entry stamp, so plan the exit ticket against the stamp date, not the booking date.
- Not extendable: the window cannot be extended from inside Oman, and it cannot be converted into another category. A trip that grows beyond two weeks needs a fresh application from outside Oman, following the application process.
- Tourism-shaped: it covers ordinary tourism only. Employment and formal business activity belong to separate processes, see the business, work and study page.
- Evidence-backed: officer discretion remains part of entry, so the bundle below belongs in your hand luggage.
Evidence expected at the border
A listed nationality is the ticket into the queue, not a ticket past the officer. The checks commonly described for free short-stay entry are portable and predictable, so prepare them as a small folder:
Crossing by road? The same bundle applies, with the added step of handling your exit-side Gulf formalities first; the road journey is documented on the land border entry page.
Planning a stay longer than 14 days
The free window and the paid online system are designed to coexist, and choosing correctly is mostly a question of trip length. For a hemmed-in two-week itinerary, the list entry is ideal. For everything from a relaxed fortnight to a month or a year of repeat visits, the online permit is the sturdier foundation:
- 10-day single entry: the light paid option for short trips, commonly published at OMR 5.
- 30-day single entry: the standard holiday permit, commonly published at OMR 20.
- One-year multiple entry: repeated shorter visits across a year, commonly published at OMR 50.
All three are compared, with the same published figures, on the unsponsored tourist visa page, and the payment cautions live on the fees page.
List cautions
- Lists move: membership has been adjusted by official decision, and a country on the list today is not contractually on it next season. Re-check the official source close to booking.
- Overstaying the 14-day window is not a paperwork footnote: exit penalties are commonly reported near OMR 10 per extra day after the grace period.
- Do not confuse the list with the substitute-visa group described on the Indian citizens page; the two routes answer different questions and overlap only partly.
Oman FAQs
Which countries get visa-free entry to Oman?
Over a hundred nationalities receive short-stay entry without a prior visa, following the free-entry update introduced in 2026. The group includes all EU states plus countries such as the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Russia, India, Iran, Lebanon, Seychelles and many more listed by the Foreign Ministry.
How long is Oman visa-free entry valid for?
The free short-stay window runs for up to 14 days from arrival. It is designed for short trips, it cannot be extended inside Oman, and it cannot be converted into another category.
Is India on the Oman visa-free list?
Yes. India appears on the officially published visa-free entry list, so Indian passport holders can use the free 14-day short-stay window. For planned holidays beyond two weeks, the online unsponsored tourist categories are the better fit.
What documents do visa-free travellers need at the Oman border?
A passport valid for at least 6 months from arrival, plus the evidence officers commonly request for short stays: accommodation confirmation, an onward or return ticket, travel insurance and proof of funds for the stay.
Where can I see the full official country list?
The complete inventory is published by the Oman Foreign Ministry as the official list of countries with visa-free entry, and the Royal Oman Police eligibility tools reflect the live version. VistoRoute carries the nationality tables in full on this page, with flags and a search, and always advises confirming your own passport through the official check.
