The current guidance identifies EAC member states and many SADC member states as visa-exempt, with exceptions such as Comoros in the SADC wording. Do not treat the regional label as a universal rule.
Many Commonwealth nationals may not need a visa, but the guidance lists important exceptions including the United Kingdom, Canada, Nigeria, India, Pakistan, Australia and New Zealand. Check the exact passport.
A visa exemption for a holiday does not automatically authorise employment, residence or academic activity. A pass or permit can still be required.
Visa rules depend on the passport used for travel, the purpose of the visit, the first destination and the documents that support the trip. A traveller should not select a category only because it appears convenient. The form, passport, travel dates and supporting evidence should describe the same journey from beginning to end.
