The Six-Month Check

The current Tanzania guidance asks for at least six months passport validity and one unused visa page. Check both before entering the application.

One Document Throughout

If you have two passports, apply with the one you will use for the journey. An approval attached to one document should not be treated as transferable to another.

Review Before Submission

Compare the biodata page to every form field. Passport number, names, nationality, date of birth and expiry should match character by character.

How to Read This Tanzania Visa Guidance

Visa rules depend on the passport used for travel, the purpose of the visit, the first destination and the documents that support the trip. A traveller should not select a category only because it appears convenient. The form, passport, travel dates and supporting evidence should describe the same journey from beginning to end.

• Check all names, passport numbers, dates and destinations before payment.

Passport Validity Is a Basic Eligibility Check

The passport used for travel should normally have at least six months validity and at least one unused visa page. Check this against the planned entry date, because a passport that looks valid when the form is completed may fall short by the time the trip begins.

What to Check on the Biodata Page

Make sure the full name, passport number, date of birth, nationality and expiry date are readable. The uploaded scan must belong to the passport holder and should not be cut off at the edges. Glare over the photograph or machine-readable lines can make a clear-looking file unusable.

If Your Passport Will Expire Soon

Renewal may be the safer choice when the passport will be close to the six-month threshold. Do not apply with the old passport and then travel with a new one unless the route allows the change and the document details have been updated correctly.

Blank Pages and Physical Condition

Keep at least one unused page available and check that the document is not damaged. Torn pages, detached covers or unreadable biodata can create problems even when the expiry date is acceptable.
