Understand the Tanzania tourist visa route, including ordinary visitor travel, the USA multiple-entry rule, documents and stay planning.
Plan the route before you pay. VistoRoute's current Tanzania service estimate is 7 days. This is an application-assistance estimate, not a visa approval, entry or decision guarantee. Referral cases, missing documents or additional review can take longer.
Use the passport you will carry for boarding and arrival. Read the route carefully, keep your travel purpose consistent and review the application before submission.
Choose the Tanzania visa route that matches your passport and trip

Keep passport details, documents and dates consistent
Eligible non-US travellers generally use an ordinary single-entry visa for tourism. The current guidance lists USD 50 and validity up to 90 days for this category.
US passport holders travelling for tourism generally must apply for a multiple-entry visa, even if they intend to make one visit. The commonly listed fee is USD 100, with up to 12 months validity and a maximum 90-day stay per visit.
Use a passport with at least six months validity, add a recent photo and return ticket, and keep accommodation and dates consistent. Read the documents checklist before submission.
Visa rules depend on the passport used for travel, the purpose of the visit, the first destination and the documents that support the trip. A traveller should not select a category only because it appears convenient. The form, passport, travel dates and supporting evidence should describe the same journey from beginning to end.
VistoRoute provides independent visa guidance and application assistance. Our current Tanzania service estimate is 7 days, but this is not a visa decision guarantee. A referral route, missing information, a correction request or additional review can change the time needed.
The ordinary visitor route is intended for travel such as holidays, visiting friends or family and other short visitor purposes. It should not be used for local employment, long-term residence or a business assignment that needs another category.
Prepare a passport biodata page, recent photograph, return or onward travel evidence, accommodation information and an itinerary that matches the requested stay. If visiting several locations, the plan can be simple, but the first destination and dates should be clear.
Check whether the route is single entry and read the issued validity and stay conditions carefully. A visa may cover Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar when the conditions allow it, but it does not remove arrival or local travel requirements.
Do not describe employment, paid local assignments or long-term study as tourism. If the real purpose changes, the correct category should be checked before submission.
US passport holders travelling for tourism generally need a multiple-entry visa instead.
An ordinary visa may be valid for up to 90 days; the exact conditions shown on the issued visa control your stay.
