Start eVisa ApplicationWho needs a Vietnam eVisa?
If your country is not on the exemption list above, or if you want to stay longer than your visa-free period, you need a tourist eVisa. Vietnam has issued eVisas to citizens of all countries and territories since August 2023. You qualify if:
Conditions for entering visa-free
1. Valid Passport
A passport valid for at least 6 months from the date you arrive.
2. Exit Proof
A confirmed outbound ticket showing that you will leave within your permitted stay.
3. Purpose
A tourism, visiting or short business-meeting purpose. Paid work is not allowed.
4. No Extensions
You cannot normally extend a visa-free stay. Apply for an eVisa if you need longer.
Special entry cases
| Situation | What applies |
|---|---|
| Phu Quoc Island | Foreign visitors of any nationality can stay on Phu Quoc for up to 30 days without a visa if they arrive from abroad (or clear immigration in Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City first) and remain on the island. |
| Airport transit | Passengers who stay in the sterile international transit area for under 24 hours do not need a visa. Leaving the airport requires a visa or exemption. |
| Children | Each child needs their own passport and follows the same rules as adults. Apply for each traveller separately. |
Visa rules and fees are set by the Government of Vietnam and can change at short notice. This page is general information, not legal advice. Always confirm current requirements with the official Vietnam Immigration Department portal or consular authorities before travel.
