Government time and Vistoroute time

Two timeframes apply to an application. The first is the government’s stated standard time for deciding a complete application. The second is the time Vistoroute states for its own service.

What “working days” means

Working days normally exclude weekends and public holidays in Vietnam.
The count starts when the application is complete and the fee has been received, not when you first open the form.
A request for more information, or a correction, can restart or extend the wait.

What can make an application slower

Factors that affect Vietnam eVisa timing
Factor Effect What you can do
Incomplete or inaccurate details The application may need correction Compare every field with your passport before submitting.
Unclear photo or passport image Images may be questioned or refused Use a sharp, uncropped passport image and a compliant photo. See Vietnam eVisa requirements.
Peak travel periods and public holidays More applications and fewer working days Apply earlier than usual around holidays such as Tet.
Visa type and purpose Some cases are reviewed more closely Select the correct purpose and entry type.
System load Short delays are possible at busy times Do not wait until the last week.

When to apply

Do not plan around the shortest stated time. Apply as early as your plans allow, ideally at least two weeks before departure, and avoid non-refundable bookings that depend on a specific approval date. Applying early also leaves room to fix a problem if one appears.

If your application is taking longer than expected

Allow for working days and public holidays before assuming something is wrong.
Look at your status. See how to check your Vietnam eVisa status.
Check your inbox and spam folder for messages about the application.
Do not submit a second application before you know the first is no longer active, because each one carries its own government fee.
If the stated time has passed, contact Vistoroute: [To confirm: Vistoroute support contact details and hours].
If the result is a refusal rather than a delay, read Vietnam eVisa rejection.

Urgent and last-minute travel

We could not confirm an official expedited option for the eVisa. Treat any promise of guaranteed fast approval with caution, because the decision and its timing belong to the Vietnamese authorities.
