Thailand visa exemption
Visa exemption is an entry arrangement, not a visa product. Whether it applies to you—and for how long—depends on your nationality, travel document, purpose, and the current Thai policy in force on your arrival date.
What visa exemption does—and does not—answer
The official rule for your passport is the controlling answer. This page avoids publishing a static nationality list because the policy is date-sensitive.

The 2026 policy point travellers should know
Published policy changes need an effective-date check
The MFA briefing of 19 May 2026 reported Cabinet approval of revisions to exemption and VOA schemes and stated that detailed measures would take effect 15 days after publication in the Royal Gazette. Because the effective date and lists are operationally important, verify the current official position before relying on any exemption period.
What to carry for a visa-exempt trip
Prepare the same basic travel evidence you would want at any international border: the passport or travel document used for the journey, onward or return travel evidence where requested, accommodation or contact details, and evidence that you can support the visit. Border officers may assess admissibility even where no advance visa is required.
Visa exemption also does not remove other arrival obligations. The official TDAC portal currently instructs foreign passengers to submit arrival information three days in advance of arrival. Follow the live portal instructions rather than copying a deadline from a third-party guide.
